August 1, 7022 (1514) Vasyl III entered Smolensk, captured by his army. Then he appointed M. L. Glynsky as the commander of the army stationed west of Smolensk. At the end of August 1514, other Moscow commanders arrested Glynsky on false charges of treason. He was thrown into prison in Moscow.
The arrest of M. L. Glynsky made an unpleasant impression in Crimea.
Glynsky’s arrest made an impression in Europe as well, so what (1459 – 1519), sending S. Herbershtein as ambassador to Moscow, gave him special instructions on December 12, 1516 – to ask for the release of Glynsky.
