This church was built in 1505 – 1508 by Aleviz New (Italian architect, who was invited by the Grand Prince Vasily 3). Renaissance facades scenery imposed on the typically Russian volume scheme of the five-domed church – another example of such a combination is probably not find. The cathedral was erected as the Shrine of the Grand Dukes, and now its inner space filled with tombs.
