Smolensk cathedral from the northwest

This huge cathedral was built in just two years, 1524 – 1525. The Assumption cathedral in the Moscow Kremlin was the model for it. With three sides it surrounded by the gallery. An interesting feature is the placement of windows in the main dome drum in two tiers.
